Ditch the car to lose weight

Anyone that’s purposely lost a bit of weight will know that in most cases its a combination of small changes & actions that usually deliver the best results. How you travel to work each day may even be another opportunity to shed a few more kilo’s!

A recent study published in the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health found that participants lost on average about 1kg over a two year period when they caught public transport instead of driving a car. The longer the commute the greater the weight loss, “For those with a commute of more than 30 minutes, there was an average reduction of 2.25 BMI units, or around 7 kg (over one stone) for the average person” said Mr Adam Martin, lead health economist at the University of East Anglia’s Norwich Medical School in the UK.

Of-course the above is dependent on the availability of reliable public transport options.
