Which treadmill do I need?
With so much choice when it comes to treadmills these days, it’s easy to get confused about which type you need. At Macarthur Fitness Equipment, we make the decision about which treadmill you need simple. When you visit our warehouse or inquire through our website, we start by asking you some questions:
How many people will be using the treadmill?
This is important because the more people that will be using the treadmill the more heavy duty you want the treadmill to be. The Horizon Paragon 7S Treadmill is an example of a heavy duty treadmill that can easily take more than a couple of different people using it everyday.
What will the treadmill be used for?
And no, using it for a clothes hoist is not allowed!
By usage we mean either walking, jogging or running. If initially walking is mostly what you will be doing, ask yourself if there is a chance that maybe you might want to jog or run on the treadmill.
Things like the motor & running deck size also determine what you can safely do on your treadmill. As a guide, if walking is mainly the activity you’ll be pursuing then a motor size of under 2.0 continuous horse power will be ample. Typically walking treadmills have a running area of between 120-135cm long x 45cm wide (like the Tempo Citta T85 Treadmill), and its this that makes a treadmill of this size inappropriate for anything more than walking or slow jogging. If running is something that you may undertake now or in the future, a motor size of greater than 2.0 continuous horse power will ensure that the treadmill has sufficient power to take the most duty.
